Women’s Med offers both surgical and non-surgical abortions. We can usually schedule your initial appointment within 2 business days.
Surgical abortion ends a pregnancy by emptying the uterus (womb) with suction or special surgical instruments similar to a D&C. Ohio law limits abortions to viability, approximately the end of the 22nd week.
Non-surgical abortion is much like a miscarriage early in a pregnancy. For a non-surgical abortion a woman takes two medications. The first (mifepristone) causes the pregnancy to stop. The second (misoprostol) causes the cervix to dilate and the uterus to contract, pushing the pregnancy out. We perform non-surgical abortions through 77 days.
